"When we decided to purchase the outdoor woodburner I didn't want to spend the money. When I saw how small our natural gas bill was I was very pleased that we had made our purchase. We use to heat our 2500 sq. ft. home, cook and dry cloths with natural gas and the avg. bill in the winter was $130 - $170, now it's under $30. We shut off the gas to the furnace and hot water tank when using the woodburnner. We have had our woodburner since Fall of 2004."

Maxim - How it works

  • The Maxim can be located up to 500 feet away from the home or building being heated.
  • Heated water from the Maxim is pumped to the home or building through insulated, underground ThermoPEX piping - the most efficient way to move heat over distances.
  • The Maxim is designed to work with any existing heating system. A heat exchanger or direct circulation conveys the heat into a forced-air furnace, radiant baseboard, or radiant floor heating system. This gives you normal thermostatic temperature control.
  • The Maxim can provide heat for all your domestic hot water by adding a water-to-water heat exchanger. This will be attached to your existing hot water heater so that it supplies hot water and you can save $30 to $80 or more per month on your gas or electric bill!

In addition to heating an entire home or building, the same Maxim unit can also heat other buildings such as a garage, workshop, shed, greenhouse or barn. It can even heat a swimming pool or hot tub.

Installing with a forced air system

By installing a water-to-air heat exchanger in your furnace (similar to an air conditioner coil), your entire home can be completely heated by the Maxim using the existing duct work. Your existing furnace serves as a backup.

Installing with a Radiant Flooring System

Radiant floor heat is becoming an increasingly popular heating choice for both new construction and remodeling or additions. The system can be installed during construction in a concrete slab*, or tubes can be fastened between wood floor joists in new or existing structures. Once you have your radiant floor heating system installed, the underground pipes from the Maxim outside of the home are then connected to the radiant floor heating system.

*Slab radiant installations must be well-insulated with 1" or Professional Heating Systems carries a complete selection of accessories to simplify installation and maintenance of your system.

Installing with Radiant Baseboard System

By installing a water-to-water heat exchanger, or by connecting directly into an existing boiler, the Maxim can heat an entire home with the existing baseboard or radiant heat system. Your existing boiler serves as a backup.
